Cleveland State Unbeaten No More

Cleveland State's Norris Cole

Cleveland State’s unbeaten streak comes to an end, as the Vikings drop their first game year to the West Virginia Mountaineers 74-63 Saturday afternoon.

After a made free throw from West Virginia’s Casey Mitchell, with 15:59 left in the game, Coach Waters looked to his defense to get them back in it. Trailing 47-36 the Vikings came out in of their signature presse and went on a ten-nothing run.

Vikings guard Norris Cole, who finished with 19 points, attacked the Mountaineer’s defense by driving to the basket after he struggled from the floor in the first half, to bring CSU back to within one at 47-46.

That is when WVU began to play a little defense of their own. The Mountaineers held Cleveland State to only two field goals in the last 6:18 of the game as the Vikings seemed to run out of gas.

CSU has to put this one behind them as South Florida comes to the Wolstein Center on Wednesday night.
