Roda’s Random Thoughts

By Kenny Roda

The Indians played their first spring training game on Sunday. I’m trying to get excited about the Tribe, but I’m having a hard time doing it.  I think the only way they’ll garner my attention is if they get off to a good start in April.  Until that happens this season or next season or whenever, I’m going to be a doubter.

The Cavs acquire one aging former star in Baron Davis and may have lost another in Antawn Jamison to a fractured finger.  That’s a fair trade off for the stretch run as they battle for the league’s worst record.

Ohio State did to a lousy Indiana team what they were supposed to – crush them. O.S.U. is number #1 again this week, but that’s not important.  What is important is beating Penn St. in Happy Valley on Tuesday night to maintain their 1 game lead over Purdue in the Big Ten regular season race.  The Buckeyes will benefit greatly if they could get that number #1 seed in the NCAA tournament and winning the Big Ten regular season title would almost guarantee that.

Wide Receiver A.J. Green is still the guy I want in the NFL Draft.  It’s the biggest need on this team and he may be one of the top 3 players in this draft.  Here’s hoping the Bengals bypass him at 4 and leave him for the Browns at 6.
