Ohio State-Kentucky Preview

I’ve tried to be as honest with myself as possible in breaking down the Sweet 16 match up between the Bucks and the Cats.

Kentucky has 3 very good freshmen in Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb. They’re athletic and can score the ball. Plus John Calipari is a very good coach with a lot of tournament experience. But I believe the Buckeyes balance on offense and defense will be too much for the Wildcats, along with the lack of experience from those 3 freshmen from Kentucky.

For Ohio State you’ve got the freshman of the year Jared Sullinger on the inside. The defensive freshman of the year and energizer bunny, in Aaron Craft. Add to that, the best 3-point shooter in the country in senior John Diebler. A senior post defender in Dallas Lauderdale. An emerging NBA player in junior swingman William Bufford. The Mr. Everything in senior David Lighty and just in case freshman Deshaun Thomas coming off the bench, and you can see why I like the Buckeyes chances. A great mix of young and old and oh yeah, Thad Matta’s a pretty good coach too. So when you put that all together, look for the Buckeyes to beat Kentucky and advance to the Elite 8 against the winner of Marquette and North Carolina.
