Cleveland, You Have a Playoff Team

By Kenny Roda

Congrats to Monsters G.M. David Oliver and Head Coach David Quinn for leading the Lake Erie Monsters to their first ever playoff appearance in franchise history.  Oliver did a great job of keeping the roster solid through all of the call-ups and injuries. Quinn did a phenomenal job of coaching these players from day 1 to the final game of the regular season the same way, “Fast and Physical”.  Quinn never complained about the call ups or injuries, he expected the players who replaced those players to step up and do the job and he coached them up to do so. Quinn juggled the goaltending situation beautifully, getting the most out of both net minders John Grahame and Jason Bacashihua.

The Monsters will have home ice advantage, at least, in the 1st round of the AHL playoffs after finishing 2nd in the Western Conference’s North Division..  After that it all depends on who wins and who loses as far as home ice goes.  The Monsters will play the Manitoba Moose in the best of  7 series in that first round.  The two teams split the season series with 2 wins apiece.

Stay tuned to and ESPN 850 WKNR for all the details on game dates, times and ticket information.

Cleveland you have a playoff team! I know it’s just minor league hockey to most of you, but these kids work just as hard, if not harder than any of the major league teams in town and all they want is a chance to earn your fandom.  So get down to The Q and give them a chance, they might surprise you, and who knows, maybe win a Calder Cup Championship in the process.

  1. I must confess, that I FEEL LIKE A MONSTER! Go Monsters! They deserve it!

  2. Go Crunch !
