Weekend Thoughts

By Kenny Roda

Infighting and locker room division killed the Cavs last season in the playoffs and it looks like it did the same with the Lakers this season. You wonder if Lamar Kardashian’s  reality TV show had anything to do with it?

Punk a*# moves by Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum in yesterday loss to the Mavs.

Bynum should be suspended for at least 5 games to start the season, Odom at least 1.

There’s a part of me that feels that Phil Jackson would love to coach the Knicks and finish his pro basketball career where it started, in New York! With Amare and Carmello already there and a veteran like Chauncy Billups at the point, add another piece or two this summer if you’re the Knicks and maybe you can convince Phil to take one more job.

The Rajon Rondo injury in game #3 of the Celtics-Heat series was nasty.  It’s amazing that he came back in and played and was successful.  In fact before the injury Rondo wasn’t having a good game at all, but after the injury he played outstanding.  So I guess, dislocating his elbow was a good thing for Rondo?

Is it just me or does Dwyane Wade get every call on offense and then he gets away with more fouls or dirty plays on defense than anyone in the NBA?

Getting excited for May 17th, that’s when we’ll find out if the Cavaliers have enough ping pong balls in the hopper to land the #1 pick in the NBA draft, which would be Duke’s Kyrie Irving.

I’m ok with the Tribe’s (3-3) road trip on the left coast against some very good starting pitching. I wouldn’t call it a winning trip, but I would call it acceptable. But we’re going to find out what this team is really all about from now until the All-Star break, as the schedule gets a lot tougher. But to start the season at (22-11) is exactly what they needed and the fans needed.

I had a great experience over the weekend working the Under Armour High School Combine at Medina HS.  It was run just like the NFL Combine and the coaches and kids were great.  I can’t remember the last time 250 teenage boys paid attention to one person when they were speaking and then went out and did exactly what their coach told them to do. Hats off to Don Zalotoy and all of the former players and coaches for putting on a top notch, first class event and allowing me to be a part of it.  If your kid missed out on it this year, make sure he doesn’t when it comes back to Ohio next year.  Great coaching, teaching, advice, exposure, experience and bonding with other top-notch high school athletes!  Thanks Under Armour!

And once again Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s out there, especially the Mom’s that gave up their special day to be with their son’s at the Under Armour Combine.

  1. Turns out it had nothing to do with Odom/Kardashian. Looks like Mrs Bryant is the one to point fingers at.

Bynum should have multiple games as JJ was the 4th victim of Bynum’s forearm. Guy can’t stay healthy himself so he makes a point to injure others.

3-3 West Coast trip is what it needs to be. Can’t find fault. Acta hads Tribe focusing the right way. One game at a time, win the series, move on. Sure you’ll have your trip ups (twice in Disney) but win 3/4 of your series and you’re sitting pretty in the W-L column

  2. yeah I say a 3-3 west coast trip is a win, specially with the Pitching the Tribe had to face…it sucks because they should of went 5-1 if they didnt blow the game yesterday and the game in extra inning a couple nights before
